Untold Omaha – The Benson Theater Restoration Project

The Benson Theater first operated as the Benalto Theater from 1923-1926. From 1927-1953, the theater was part of a chain of neighborhood theaters that featured vaudeville performances, film screenings, and public events. The building is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is considered ‘demolished.’ Recently, however, the LUND real estate company bought the building as a real estate investment and the Omaha Community Foundation has made the restoration of this theater a priority.
